Kiddies Playground

Kiddies Playground

Douglas Community Association built a playground in the park 10 years ago; the funding to build it was organized by a Playground Fund-raising Committee which included Lucy Marmion, Betty McNulty and Sheila Fitzgerald, with great help from the Lottery Funds and Cork Co. Council – there is a sign in the park naming all the Sponsors from that time.  But it needed refurbishment and in 2009, Cork County Council’s Department of Parks and Amenities provided us with a new playground with state-of-the-art equipment.   It is a fabulous amenity in the park with plenty of benches for parents to sit while they watch their children enjoy the swings, slides, see-saws, climbing equipment, play towers and an aerial runway for the older, more adventurous children.  It is equipped for children up to the age of 13 and is not suitable for teenagers.  CCTV has been installed at the playground and it is checked daily to monitor the safe use of the playground.  Please note that parents/carers are responsible for supervision of their own children.
