SERVICES AT CENTRE

Overview of Services at Douglas Community Centre provided by Douglas Community Association Ltd. (DCA)

Douglas Community Centre is operated by Douglas Community Association Ltd. (DCA).  The centre is situated in the heart of Douglas in Douglas Community Park, on the Church Road end.  In 1986, the Douglas Community Centre was opened, and has since provided a range of services for the community, including initially Meals-on-Wheels, and a Pre-School and Playgroup.  Over the years, other services have been added, including a Childrens’ Playground, which was recently upgraded and refurbished by Cork Co. Council with state-of-the-art facilities, and which is used all year-round by young children to the age of 13.

We are fortunate to have a most-progressive Douglas Tidy Towns committee as part of our group, who work hard all year round keeping the area litter free, and in taking on projects each year to improve our marks in the annual Tidy Towns Competition.  A Bring’ Recycling facility in the park is another amenity for the public to use to get rid of their glass and cans.

The 5-acre Community Park is a wonderful amenity in the middle of a bustling, busy area, and has lots of trees, several benches and people are passing through it all day long, going to work, strolling through with friends, jogging on the jogging path provided for their daily exercise, or simply sitting and having a chat, or reading a book.
